The short version: We collect only what we need to run FilmScout. We never sell your data. We never show you ads.
1. What We Collect
When you use FilmScout, we may collect:
- Email address — when you sign up via Google or email, used to identify your account
- Device fingerprint — a non-reversible hash of your browser/device used to enable the free guest experience and prevent trial abuse
- Timestamp corrections — scene time adjustments you submit, attributed to your account type
- Usage data — which movies you watch with FilmScout, to improve scene coverage
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
2. What We Don't Collect
- We don't track what you watch on streaming services
- We don't access your streaming accounts
- We don't collect location data
- We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve FilmScout's scene alert service
- To manage your subscription and process payments via Stripe
- To improve timestamp accuracy using community corrections
- To prevent abuse of the free trial and guest features
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (D1 database) in the United States using industry-standard security practices.

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time through the app Settings, or by using the feedback form in the app. We'll process deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
FilmScout is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We'll notify you of significant changes via the app.
